Why was my subscription declined?

Common Decline Reasons

Your subscription might be declined for several reasons, with the four most common ones outlined below:

Eligibility, Credit, and Financial Criteria Not Met

Our checks ensure you meet age and visa requirements, along with our credit and financial standards. Failure to meet these criteria means we cannot offer our services to you yet. We regularly review our criteria, so you're encouraged to reapply once you meet our requirements.

Incomplete Application or Missing Documentation

A complete overview of your financial situation is crucial for approval. If additional documents like income or address proofs are needed, we'll email you. Failure to provide these within 2 business days leads to automatic order decline. Ensure our emails aren't missed by adding us to your Safe Senders list.

Insufficient Spending Power Balance

For existing customers, exceeding your Spending Power limit could result in a declined subscription. You can request a Spending Power review after 6 months of on-time payments to potentially increase your limit.

History of Missed Payments

Timely payments are crucial for maintaining and expanding your subscriptions. A history of missed payments can negatively affect your ability to place future subscription orders.

What about the money I committed during checkout?

The amount for the first month's subscription is considered a pending transaction—set as an authorisation hold by your bank or payment provider. No money changes hands until the order is approved.

So if your order is unsuccessful for any reason, we will instruct your bank to release the hold immediately. The funds, having never been transferred to Circular, are not considered a payment.

It typically takes 3 to 7 business days for the hold to be removed from your account. The exact timing may be longer based on your bank or payment provider. Eventually, the hold will no longer appear in the Pending Transactions section of your statement. Please check with your bank if you have further questions.

Can I apply again if my previous order was declined?

Yes, you are welcome to place a new subscription order even if a previous one was declined, as each order is considered on its own merits. Here are some tips to enhance your chances of approval for a new subscription:

  • Meet Our Eligibility Criteria: Ensure that any issues related to eligibility, credit, and financial checks that led to the decline of your previous order have been addressed. Changes in your personal circumstances might now meet our evolving approval criteria.
  • Consider Different Device Options: Opting for "Like New" or "Lightly Used" devices with lower monthly subscription fee might potentially improve your chances of approval.
  • Provide Required Documentation Promptly: If documentation issues caused your previous order's decline, make sure to include all necessary documents with your new order or respond quickly to any requests for additional information.
  • Check Your Spending Power: For declines related to insufficient Spending Power, review your payment history and consider requesting a Spending Power review if you've made 6 consecutive on-time payments since your last application.
  • Maintain Timely Payments: If missed payments were a factor in past declines, ensure your payment history reflects positive changes before reapplying.

By addressing these areas, you increase the likelihood of your new subscription order being approved.
